Maximising Your Mobile Phone or Mobile Device’s Battery Life

High battery consumption can be the result of low or marginal signal coverage but the following are some steps you can take to maximise your battery life:

  1. Switch off Bluetooth,
  2. Switch off WiFi
  3. Reduce screen brightness and backlighting times.
  4. Limiting the use of the camera, video phone, MP3 player, will maximise battery life.

Tips to maximize battery life

  • Do not leave the battery in a discharged state. Charge the battery promptly when flat.
  • Turn off WiFi when not in use to extend battery life.
  • With poor network conditions (less than 2 bars) battery life is reduced.
  • Turn off Bluetooth when not in use and limit multimedia functions to extend battery life.
  • Keep your mobile phone or device and battery cool. High temperatures degrade the battery more quickly.
  • Try to have regular top up charges rather than allowing a full battery discharge. Try to avoid deep discharge states as this can shorten battery life.
  • The normal charge time is 3-4 hours. Do not charge the battery for more than 24hrs.
  • After 2 or 3 initial charge and discharge cycles the battery life will improve. From then on use top up charging to recharge frequently and always charge promptly when flat.
  • When not using the phone for long periods charge to approximately 40% and remove the battery from your device

Connecting the charger

  • Check the plug and socket are aligned.
  • Insert the charger lead carefully.
  • Don’t use excessive force which may damage the charging port.
  • Physical damage to the charging port is not usually covered by warranty, so exercise care when plugging in and removing your charger
  • Be careful to avoid tripping or pulling on the lead whilst it is plugged in.
  • Most mobile phone and devices can be charged by connecting the device to a computer using the USB lead supplied.
  • A tone is played when the charger or USB cable is plugged in to let you know charging has began.
  • Your can charge your mobile phone or device when the device is ON or OFF. When charging with the device switched OFF “Charging” is usually displayed on screen. When charging the device while switched ON the battery icon usually animates or moves until the battery has been fully charged.
  • If the phone is switched off when charging is complete don’t forget to switch your mobile device back on.

Avoid high temperatures and direct sunlight. The battery will usually not charge when over 45 degrees Celcius
