Telstra and Huawei have launched the Telstra Wi-Fi 4G Advanced Pro X, the first Australian mobile broadband device to feature LTE Category 6 technology. This mobile broadband WiFi hotspot, the Advanced Pro X, is capable of supporting ultra-fast internet speeds by operating on two spectrum bands simultaneously. The Advanced Pro X (E5786S) can connect up to 10 Wi-Fi enabled devices to the internet.
The Advanced Pro X currently utilises Telstra’s 4G 1800MHz network and will support fast download speeds between 2 Mbps to 50 Mbps in 4G areas. Indications from Telstra are that the device’s LTE-A capability, which supports theoretical maximum peak download speeds of 300Mbps, will provide world-leading performance once Telstra introduces 700MHz spectrum in early 2015.
The Advanced Pro X hotspot weighs in at approximately 145 grams, measures 15.8mm and has support for WiFi.
The Advanced Pro X lets Telstra customers to track their data usage against their monthly data allowance by displaying this information on the hotspot’s screen. The screen also displays information on Wi-Fi name, signal strength, number of devices connected battery levels and SMS notifications at a glance.
MicroUSB 3.0 support is also here, with charging the mobile broadband hotspot is done via the micro usb port with the Advanced Pro X being able to provide up to 10 hours of LTE life from a three hour charge. You can even ‘reverse charge’ your smartphone from the E5786S. The Advanced Pro X is compatible with PC and Mac.
