Motorola has launched their new mid range Motorola Moto G62 5G handset today. It’s available today with the price tag of $399 from today at JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, Officeworks, Big W Online, Mobileciti as well as Lenovo Online.
Also all three of Australia’s mobile networks have decided they will also sell this phone and you will be able to buy the Moto G62 5G from Optus, Telstra and Vodafone from August 1. This Motorola smartphone comes to Australia in just the one colour which is Midnight Gray.
There will be variances in specification between the retail and telco store models which are as follows, telco version has a Single SIM + Storage card slot while the retailer version allows for either Dual SIM or SIM + Storage Card.
The Moto G62 5G has a 6.5 inch screen, full HD+ screen that gives sharper details and brighter colours and the 120Hz refresh rate provides super smooth and less eye fatigue. Working in harmony with this display are dual Dolby Atmos stereo speakers to deliver high volume and provide sound that is crisper with a wider range of sound.
The device’s processor is a Snapdragon 480+ 5G mobile platform unit with a 2.2 GHz octa-core Kryo 460 CPU and a 650 MHz Adreno 619 GPU with 4GB of RAM. The Operating System is Android 12 and this gives easy access to the Google app suite. Motorola has pledged one Android OS update from 12 to 13 as well as security updates every two months for a period of two years.
Storage wise there is 128GB of built in memory with up to 1 TB with the G62’s microSD card expandable memory capability.
Camera wise there is a 50MP main camera with Quad Pixel technology, an 8 MP ultra-wide angle lens, a 2 MP Macro and a 16 MP selfie camera. You can keep the G62 5G safe and secure with its Security fingerprint reader and face unlock capabilities.
The battery is a large sized 5000mAh unit with the phone is capable of 10W/15W charging via the handset’s USB Type-C charging port. There is also a 3.5 mm headset jack. Although the G62 5G is capable of 15W charging the provided charger is a 10W charger.
Although this new Motorola phone the, G62 5G is not water proof it does have a water-repellent design that creates a barrier to help protect against moderate exposure to water such as accidental spills, splashes, or light rain. It is not designed to be submerged in water, or exposed to pressurised water, or other liquids. Additionally Motorola state that this protection may diminish over time.
Wi-Fi is Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac specifications and this includes 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz Wi-Fi as well as the ability to turn your 62 5G into a Wi-Fi hotspot
There is also Bluetooth 5.1, NFC and GPS, A-GPS, LTEPP, SUPL, GLONASS, Galileo location services. The device measures 161.83 x 73.96 x 8.59 mm and weighs 184 grams.
