Telstra’s Elite Prepaid USB Modem, the MF668, delivers 21 megabits per second (Mbps) downloads to Telstra’s prepaid customers via the Next G network. The Telstra Elite prepaid mobile broadband modem is compatible with both Windows and Macs. The modem also doubles as a USB flash drive having a microSD card slot located next to the SIM card slot that will accept a microSD card up to 32GB in size.
The Telstra Elite prepaid modem features a single LED on the front of the device that shows power and data status. The Prepaid Elite USB Modem also has an antenna port in which an external Next G antenna and patch lead can be connected up to boost reception if required.
The device drivers and connection manager software required to use the modem is stored on the modem itself and as stated above is compatible with both Windows and Mac OS X. The modem plugs straight into your USB port for a Plug and Play installation.
The software is easy to install and allows you to quickly access your prepaid account balance. The Telstra Elite MF668 modem is speed rated at a maximum download speed of 21Mbps and a maximum upload speed being 5.8Mbps. Telstra claims the service will provide typical real-world speeds of between 550 kilobits per second (Kbps) and 8Mbps.
The MF668 device is locked to the Telstra Network. You will need to contact your Telstra if you wish to unlock your device.
Currently Telstra sells the MF668 Elite Prepaid USB modem for $129 which includes 3GB of data that has a 30-day expiry.
