Telstra and Huawei have launched the Telstra Wi-Fi 4G Advanced Pro X, the first Australian mobile broadband device to feature LTE Category 6 technology. This mobile broadband WiFi hotspot, the Advanced Pro X, is capable of supporting ultra-fast internet speeds by operating on two spectrum bands simultaneously.
Currently Telstra’s 4G network covers approximately 40% of the population. And Telstra 4G network expansion plans to achieve 66% population coverage by mid 2013.
Since the launch of Telstra’s 4G LTE service last September, the telco’s customers have embraced 4G technology and today more than half a million 4G devices are being used for internet browsing video and music streaming as well as enjoying rich internet content traditionally reserved for desktop PCs.
The Samsung Galaxy S II 4G, Samsung’s first Australian release 4G handset comes with a dual-core 1.5 GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM and Android 2.3, Gingerbread operating system.
Telstra business customers can now have the choice of a 4G WiFi device, the Telstra 4G WiFi W706S. This device, Australia’s first of this tye, is a personal WiFI hotspot that accesses internet at 4G speeds.
The HTC Velocity is Australia’s first 4G smartphone and has a 4.5 inch touch screen, a 1.5 GHz dual core processor for fast multi-tasking, an 8 megapixel camera and utilizes Google’s Android operating system.
Telstra has announced the launch Long Term Evolution (LTE) or 4G services in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney by the end of August 2011.
Telstra’s upgrade of the Next G network will see the company providing leading edge technology with upgrades to its Next G network with 4G technology in selected areas in the later part of 2011.
