Released on March 16, 2012 in Australia, the third generation of iPad,the new iPad, is a tablet PC designed, developed and marketed by Apple. The iPad is not designed to make phone calls over a cellular network but can access data over cellular networks although currently 4G support fo r the New iPad is not available in Australia.

The New iPad comes with Apple's iOS 5.1, which serves primarily as a platform for audio-visual media, including ebooks, games, films, music, computer, web content and presentations.

The New iPad can sync with a Mac or PC using iTunes, although iOS 5 and later can be completely PC-free.
